Relics of Christian
Saints fall into four categories: the First Class Relic is the body or a portion
of the body of a Saint; example: bone, flesh, or hair. These are considered so
precious that they are rarely entrused to individuals, but are placed in Faith
Communities. the Second Class Relic is an item or piece of an item used by the
Saint while in the body; example: clothing, Bible, Breviary, Mass vestments, and
so on. Again, second class Relics are considered so precious that they are rarely
entrused to individuals, but are placed in Faith Communities. the Third Class
Relic is something that has been touched to the body (or to a portion of the body)
of a Saint. Generally, the Third Class Relic is a piece of cloth, but it
need not be, as long as the item so touched conveys holiness and is touched with
the intent that it be a third class Relic. Third class Relics may be given
to individuals, and may be sold. (The Fourth Class Relic, somewhat
less known, is something that has been touched to a Second Class Relic of a Saint.
Generally, the Fourth Class Relic is a piece of cloth, but it need not be, as
long as the item so touched conveys holiness and is touched with the intent that
it be a fourth class Relic. Again, fourth class Relics may be given to individuals,

An
amazing find! Antique Holy Card Collection from the 1800's!
An acquaintance of mine from India sent me this amazing collection
of antique holy cards. The wording on the cards is in French, and from all research
I have been able to do, they appear to be Circa 1800's. The cards are truly incredible,
but are literally falling apart. I decided they are an important part of our Catholic
heritage and need to be preserved. Through hours of painstaking work, I was able
to scan and digitally remaster the cards and make them into this wonderful collection
of digital images - the cards were falling apart as I scanned them! The Card Listing
sheet has the name or title given to each card, plus the card jpg image number,
so that you can look up the cards according to topic. These beautiful cards that
are now digital images may be used for any number of projects, websites, online
publishing, printing for your own enjoyment, making computer greeting cards or
even printing them on nice paper and making your own catalogue replica of this
wonderful collection. They are a wonderful way to introduce various aspects of
the Catholic Faith to your children. My own children are fascinated by the old
